URGENT: Department of Industry (DOI) Notice - (Dec 1, 2025)

The Department of Industry (DOI) has issued a critical notice, published on December 1, 2025, concerning the status of pending Trademark Registration applications following the recent file destruction. The official notice is attached for your reference and provides clarity on the process moving forward.

Immediate Action is Required for all pending applications.

Key Requirements and Deadlines:

1. For Pending/Incomplete Applications (All Applicants):

  • Requirement: All previous applicants, especially those with incomplete documentation, must resubmit their applications with all necessary documents.

  • Deadline: 90 days from the date of the notice (i.e., by February 28, 2026).

  • Crucial Note: Any applications pending for more than seven years that are not resubmitted within this 90-day window will be automatically cancelled.

2. For Approved Applications (Ready for Certificate Collection):

  • Requirement: Applicants whose trademarks were previously published in the Industrial Property Bulletin without opposition must submit the required documents to collect their certificate.

  • Deadline: Six months from the date of the notice (i.e., by May 31, 2026).

  • Crucial Note: Failure to submit the application for certificate collection within this six-month period will result in the  cancellation of the application.
