Start with the asset and objective
Tell your Nepal counsel what you need to protect: a brand, invention, product appearance or creative work. Explain whether your priority is a new filing, portfolio maintenance, a transaction or a dispute.
Gather the records
Prepare applicant and owner details, existing certificates, relevant foreign filings, agreements and important dates. Include product images, invention drawings or copies of the mark as appropriate. Your counsel should confirm the documents, authority to act and any translation or certification requirements.
For disputes, preserve evidence
Keep notices, correspondence, photographs, purchase records and information about the suspected infringer. Flag every deadline. Agree on the commercial objective before selecting an enforcement route.
Check the Nepal position
Do not assume an overseas registration answers the Nepal question. Ask counsel to assess the applicable law and procedure. See the Patent, Design and Trade Mark Act, 1965, on WIPO Lex for the statutory framework. Contact Apex Law Chamber to discuss your matter.
